bikes and dancing

SOMEbody gets it! love, anger, and blood. yep, i think that covers it.

today i bought a bike. well i payed for a bike. it's on order and will be into city bikes in 10 days to 2 weeks. a smoke metal gray 18.5 inch bianchi avenue, to be exact. initially i wasn't sure what to get because this know-it-all vegan anarchist cyclist i met at the vegan bakery in the district told me that i shouldnt get a bike with gears because it makes the bike heavy and harder to ride.

WHAT? what...WHAT?

not have gears in hilly-ass WDC? ok, maybe for you mr anarch0-vegan cyclist know it all, but not for me. i have nothing to prove by my bike. i just want to ride around and enjoy the breeze. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

(you like-a my hyperlinking? eh, you like-a? blogger, i am getting to know you.)

so last weekend i spent a bit of time with this person who used to be a good friend, but had, frankly, become a frenemy since we started college. things were always weird when we saw each other. just uncomfortable. and i felt like i was always being emotionally open but she was not. and moreover, that she was sort of turning her nose up at my emotional openness. so after a while i stopped giving her the benefit of the doubt. so last weekend i went out with her after not seeing her for i think 6 months and it was pretty fun. she was still arrogant, still slightly snobbish, but she remembered this silly joke-dance i used to do when i was 16 years old. i had completely forgotten about it. and she was like 'hey remember that dance you used to do? it was so funny'. it was very very very disarming. after all the years of frenemying, i find that there is at least one good memory stuck somewhere in the crevices of both our brains.

orrrrr maybe im reading way too into it, as i do.
